Don Whiteman of Powell, Wyo. claimed his first Double Nickel title defeating Tom Shea of Billings in the championship match by a score of 195 - 179. With the win, Whiteman took home $300 while Shea pocketed $275 for his efforts. The high game was posted by Ken Taft with a 265 in qualifying. Honor scores posted were Ken Taft (707). Shea was the high qualifier with 877 for 4 games.

Oleson forced the second match by winning the first match by a score of 216 - 195. With the win, Brown took home $300 while Oleson pocketed $280 for his efforts. The high game of the day was posted by Robert Brown with a 289 in match play. The high qualifier was Dave Oleson with a 1004 for 4 games. Ken Taft of Billings defeated Craig Nickel of Billings in the challenge championship match by a score of 214-194. Taft forced the second match by winning the first 237-180. With the win, Taft took home $210 while Nickel took home $180 for his efforts. The high game was posted by Craig Nickel of Billings and Randy Scharf of Gillette, Wyo. with a 290 game in match play. Jack Schmidt claimed his first Double Nickel title on Sunday by defeating Ken Taft in the Championship match by a score of 227 - 214. Both bowlers are from Billings. The high qualifier was Tom Shea of Billings with an 883. High game was posted by Dave Oleson of Sheridan with a 267 in qualifying.

With the win, Oleson took home $205while Loran pocketed $180 for his efforts. The high game of the day was posted by Curtis Schmidt of Billings with a 280 in qualifying play. Schmidt was also the top qualifier with an 897 series for 4 games.

Summers forced the second match by winning the first match by a score of 184 - 158. With the win, Oleson took home $200 while Summers pocketed $180 for his efforts. The high game of the day was posted by Ken Taft of Billings with a 267 in match play. Taft was also the top qualifier with a 938 series for 4 games. Honor scores posted were Taft (733), Chester Gilliam (703), and Brad Muri (739). Barry Campbell had an all-spare game in match play competition.

The Association honored two bowlers before competition to participate in their 100th Double Nickel Tournament. They are Stu Summers, and Ron Engelhardt. They did eventually meet in a match in the 5th round of match play with Summers winning by a score of 217-181.
